Just 4x4 Adventures

There are very few true wilderness areas left in this world. Areas where you can enjoy the abundance and perfectness of our Gods creation. Areas where you can enjoy unspoilt and undeveloped nature, just as it has been for millions of years. We at Just 4x4 Adventures cater for the client who wants to experience just that. That is the reason why we are so madly in love with the two deserts in our region, namely the Namib Desert (Oldest desert on our planet) and the Kalahari Desert. (The longest stretch of sand in the world) In this two adjacent desert regions in Southern Africa, wildlife and birdlife is still present in thousands of numbers. The areas are well managed and protected and only limited amounts of tourists are allowed.

Once you've travelled through one of this deserts and experienced the beauty and abundance it offers, you will keep coming back and tell your friends until the end of time.

Namaqualand and the Richtersveld Nasional Park, which is just to the south of the Namib Desert, is  still one of our most popular tours. Our guide for that region was born and bred there and knows the area well and present a very informative tour to that area.

The name Just 4x4 Adventures are specifically selected, bescause our tour destinations are only negotiable by 4x4 vehicle. That also confirms that a very few previlaged tourists will ever be able to travel and experience this true wilderness areas we offer to our clients.

As knowlageable expert guides on the ecology of the regions where we take tours, we guarentee you the experience of a lifetime.

"Mabenyani a Kalahari"

(Jewel of the Kalahari)

Awesome, awesome and another awesome is not even enough to describe this new destination and 4x4 tour. Mabenyani is a 4 million hectare private concession adjacent to Mabuasehube and the Kalagadigadi Transfrontier Parks. It is a true and one of a handful wilderness areas left in the world. Here you regularily see herds of hundreds of Eland, Gemsbuck, Red Hartebees and recently Springbuck in a herd of more than one thousand was spotted. Of the cats Lion, Leopard and Cheetah are the most common and a few Spotted Heyena also patrol the area.

Until recently the concession was used for hunting and lion hunting in particular, but that activities was seized and it is now a photographic safari concession. To protect the true wilderness status of the area you can only tour the area with a guide and trackers. There is three magnificent camps scattered through the concession of which two camps are luxury, furnished tents under thatched roofs and the newest addition is a permanent thatched chalets, overlooking a waterhole.

Because of the vastness of the area the tours are going to be 8-9 day tours, with camping in between the three permanent camps. If you are a Kalahari, dune, savanna or Camel Thorn tree lover, you will enjoy this last wilderness in Africa. There is no locals or anyone living in this wilderness area and the tours are also planned, that you don't encounter any other souls, whilst touring the concession.

There are only three tour operators(We are one of them) licenced to guide clients through this Kalahari Wilderness and you will have to book way in advance, if you measure this area against the popularity of the adjacent Mabuasehube.

If you want to tour this area in 2009, e-mail us for more information at andre@just4x4adventures.co.za

4x4 News

Mabenyane, Botswana

We've just returned from our last tour for the year to this wonderful place in Botswana. And what a pleasant surprize we had on this tour. Not only have we encountered a herd of a few thousand, yes that's what I've said, a few thousand Springbok in one herd. I don't know of any place in the world where you can still see Springbok in herds of that magnitude.

Secondly, we've named the trip afterwards, "Revenge of the Lions", because not only have we seen this magnificent cats a few times, but have they keep us awake one whole night, by walking around in our campsite and let loose with deafening roars. We were anyhow far to scared to sleep. At our last overnight stop at Heinie's Camp, two huge male lions and one female, who was in season, simply did not want us to use the chalets of this old lion hunting concession. After 3 hours of filming and trying to persude them to leave the camp, they simply ignore us and continue their courtship! Check out our photo album of the trip!
